EU STATES BREAKING REFUGEES LAW

Amnesty International has pointed the finger at some of European member states, because they don’t respect the Geneva Convention rules on taking in refugees. The French government is mainly criticised for the destrucion of a refugees camp in Calais called the “Jungle”. On Tuesday morning, police began to clear the place. Some local protesters clashed with them. The French Immigration Minister, Mister Eric Besson has said that this is not a humanitarian camp. It is a base for traffickers. Now, the migrants are being taken to centres around Calais for processing. France said all will be offered the chance to apply for asylum. Let’s see if it will happen.

ALARM CLOCKS FOR CLIMATE

In 120 countries, climate change protesters have set off alarm clocks as a wake up call to politicians just before the starting of the United Nations climate summit in New York. They discussed how to deal with the cutting of gas emissions by 2020 and how rich countries will help poor nations. It is also hoped that the two top polluting countries, China and the US, will find a common deal for December’s Copenhagen climate conference. And you know what? Even Britain’s Prince Charles has set up a coalition of 500 international companies to encourage renewable enegy. Good job Charles!

A “POLITICO-ROYAL” LOVE STORY

A former French president, Valery Giscard d’Estaing, has written a new novel called: “The Princess and the President”. It is about a president’s love for an English princess. It seems that this book is not a fiction, but a real love story. The French newspaper, “Le Figaro” said the main characters are quite similar to the author, Valery Giscard d’Estaing, and the Princess Diana. Despite his good writing and his well knowledge of French litterature, the former president could be teased with an affair with a woman of 30 years old younger than him. So next time Mister, be careful when you tell the truth. Sometimes silence is better!
