Italian treatment for migrants

Human Rights Watch has lashed out at the Italian government over forcibly returning Libyan migrants to their home nation. Some of them were intercepted by Italian security forces at the Italian coast. In a report, the organisation describes the bad practices of Italy concerning migrants treatment . Bill Frelick, refugee policy director at Human Rights Watch, said that Italy is sending people back to abuse. Of course, because migrants who had been detained in Libya suffered from worse violence than in European centres.

Young racists jailed in Russia

One year ago, in Moscow, a gang of 10 racist teenagers has been sent to jail for violent attacks on foreigners. Now, we know that the leader of the gang will stay 8 years in prison. The other members of the gang got lighter sentences because of their age. The victims of the attacks were from China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. One of them was killed. He was only 18. This kind of racism is quite common in Russia. In recent years, the number of attacks on foreigners has been increasing, especially in and around Moscow.

Iranian mannequins targeted

In Iran, shopkeepers can’t display female models without a veil and show their body curves. Moreover, displaying thongs, neckties and selling women’s underwear by men are also banned. The Iranian government thinks that people are too influenced by Western fashion, and that is anti Islamic. Since 2005, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has seen that as “Un-Islamic behavior”. So, if a woman doesn’t respect the correct dress codes, she will be cautioned, and if it happens again, she will go to court or even follow “guidance classes”. Then, hopefully, she will know how to dress up correctly.
